THE INDWELLER OF DISCIPLES / BELIEVERS
The TRUE Disciple or Believer submits his life as a LIVING SACRIFICE. The HOLY GHOST resides on the THRONE of the heart of GOD’S people. The indwelling of the HOLY GHOST is the distinguishing characteristic of the REGENERATED person.
They are REGENERATED because their DEAD SPIRIT is made ALIVE and they are BORN AGAIN. BELIEVERS are RECONCILED to GOD and reinstated to the original ESTATE mankind (Adam) had with the SPIRIT of GOD and lived a SANCTIFIED LIFE.
The theological term “regeneration” is the Latin translation of the Greek expression παλινγενεσία, palingenesía and is used twice in the New Testament.
The word is usually written παλιγγενεσία, paliggenesía, in classical Greek. Its meaning is different in the two passages, though an easy transition of thought is evident.
Mat 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
From within the Believer, the HOLY GHOST TEACHES; DIRECTS; GUIDES; COMFORTS; EDIFIES; and INFLUENCES as well as PRODUCES in us the GIFTS and FRUITS of the HOLY GHOST. The HOLY GHOST provides the INTIMATE CONNECTION between GOD, CHRIST and HIS children; CHRIST being the FIRST FRUITS.
When the Believer has the HOLY GHOST residing on the THRONE of his heart he seeks first the KINGDOM OF GOD and he is validated as a CHILD of GOD. After a Believer is BORN AGAIN and receives the BAPTISM and INDWELLING of the HOLY GHOST he is TRANSLATED into the KINGDOM of GOD and is no longer in the WORLD. They are also SAVED from the WRATH of GOD, a terrible JUDGEMENT on ALL who remain DEAD and in DARKNESS in the WORLD.
Col_1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Rom 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
When a person becomes a Disciple; he begins to study and follow the WORD of GOD; the COMMANDMENTS of GOD and CHRIST; receives the BAPTISM of Water, and obtain the GIFT of the BAPTISM of the HOLY GHOST, and is BORN AGAIN. The BAPTISM of the HOLY GHOST begins the development of a NEW LIFE, a NEW SPIRIT, a NEW CREATION.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God.”
1Pe 1:23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Disciples are REGENERATED SPIRITUALLY and develop the capacity to DISCERN the SPIRITUAL THINGS of GOD. The SPIRITUAL LAW (COMMANDMENTS); the TRUTHS, MESSAGES and LESSONS that are in the Bible are PERCEIVED at a SPIRITUAL level and UTILIZED in our DAILY LIVES.
The HOLY SPIRIT of PROMISE – OUR INHERITANCE
When used in a narrative form the HOLY SPIRIT and the HOLY GHOST have been known by other “names and titles” as well as usage interchangeably. Usually, it is when it denotes some particular FUNCTION, INFLUENCE or ASPECT. Below are some of the Biblical uses and the descriptions of how BELIEVERS are EMPOWERED by the HOLY GHOST/the HOLY SPIRIT.
AUTHOR OF SCRIPTURE (BIBLE):
Although the Bible has been penned by many writers the actual AUTHOR of the Bible is the HOLY SPIRIT because the Bible is the INSPIRED WORD OF GOD. The BIBLE was written over a course of fifteen centuries with over 40 authors who were men who were inspired by the HOLY GHOST/HOLY SPIRIT and although there was no collaboration between them they all wrote on one central theme, JESUS CHRIST. The Scriptures were literally “God-breathed,” by the HOLY SPIRIT. The HOLY SPIRIT moved the writers of all of the Books of the Bible to record exactly what HE breathed into their hearts and their minds. When we pray, we are talking to GOD. When we read or study the HOLY SCRIPTURES (the Bible) GOD is talking to us across the boundaries of SPACE and TIME through the HOLY SPIRIT which makes HIS WORDS timeless. The GODHEAD is not confined to SPHERES of TIME and SPACE as we are. They are “outside of TIME and SPACE”.
COMFORTER / COUNSELOR / ADVOCATE:
All three of the words above are translations of the Greek parakletos, from which we get the word “Paraclete,” another name for the HOLY SPIRIT. When Jesus went away, HIS Disciples were greatly distressed because they had lost HIS charismatic and directing presence. HE was their leader and they felt great sorrow and a great sense of loss of direction when considering HIS departure.
They had lived with CHRIST for three (3) years, time which included their “training” as HIS DISCIPLES and APOSTLES but they could not formulate the concept of a “social religious movement” without a visible SPEARHEAD. The main problem was they were still visualizing a CARNAL physical Kingdom. They thought GOD was going to re-establish an earthly kingdom to Israel.
As the time drew near to HIS DEATH, CHRIST began to direct their MINDS to HIS Crucifixion and HIS RESURRECTION. But their hearts were hardened and they did not RETAIN the SPIRITUAL knowledge HE imparted to them. Knowingly, HE promised to send the HOLY GHOST to COMFORT, CONSOLE, TEACH; REMIND and GUIDE those who believed on HIM. Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
Joh 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
Joh 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
Joh 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
Joh 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
WITNESS:
The HOLY SPIRIT is called a “witness” because HE verifies and testifies to the fact that we are CHILDREN of GOD; that CHRIST JESUS and the Disciples and Apostles who performed MIRACLES were sent by GOD. They also attest that the books of the Bible are DIVINELY inspired. Further, by giving the GIFTS of the SPIRIT to BELIEVERS, HE WITNESSES to us and the WORLD that BELIEVERS belong to GOD.
1Jn_5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Heb 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Joh 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
Joh 15:27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
Act_5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
